Dan Marshall hails from southeastern Virginia and was born into a proud Marine Corps family, where he developed a deep love for his country. He attended Virginia Tech, where he was a member of the football team before pursuing his lifelong passion for music.
Dan’s musical journey began at the age of twelve when he started learning piano. By eighteen, he had taught himself to play guitar, quickly discovering a talent for writing and performing country music.
In 2021, Dan began sharing his music online, where his authentic sound and storytelling caught the attention of American Idol producers. He went on to become a Top 10 finalist on the show, gaining national recognition. Following the competition, Dan moved to Nashville to fully dedicate himself to his career in country music.
Drawing inspiration from the early 2000s and late ’90s country era—with influences including Garth Brooks, George Strait, Brooks & Dunn, Alan Jackson, and Toby Keith—Dan has crafted a sound that blends traditional country roots with modern energy.
Dan penned a management deal with Erin Mooring / Steel House Management in 2022. His debut single, “She Wants a Ring,” was released in May 2023, followed by “Heaven’s Honky Tonk,” which went viral and built a devoted online fanbase eager for more of his genuine country sound.
Dan’s rising success earned him recognition as one of Country Wire’s Top 10 Artists to Watch in 2024. In October 2024, inked a co-publishing agreement with Jonas Group Entertainment.
